Wakefield Regional Council

Roads & Footpaths

Print Page

Council is responsible for the construction and maintenance of civil infrastructure which includes roads, footpaths, streetscapes, stormwater, reserves, parks and gardens for residents and visitors to use and enjoy.

The integrity of a road network is maintained by a regular reseal and maintenance program titled the 'Capital Works Program'. Council's road construction and maintenance programs are principally financed from Council's general rate revenue and Government funding.

Although Council undertakes road maintenance of all constructed roads, arterial roads are in fact the responsibility of Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (State Government).
